The Wroughton Library is temporarily located in the Alexandra Room of the Ellendune Centre and are currently looking to move to a bigger space (and that’ll probably be within the Ellendune still) so it is likely going to be in the Alex room for the foreseeable future.
Their opening times:
- Monday: Closed
- Tuesday: 11am – 4pm (Rhyme Time starts at 11am, but only has two weeks left before holidays)
- Wednesday: 9.30am – 3pm
- Thursday: 3.30am – 7.30pm
- Friday: 9.30am – 3pm
- Saturday: 10am – 1pm
- Sunday: Closed
The library also has two PC terminals still. And people can still use their Swindon Libraries cards. They do have a bit of a smaller collection now, but we are still sharing books with the other libraries and get new books every month.
Borrowers are still able to reserve books from the other libraries for the reservation fee of £1.10.
Summer reading challenge
The Wroughton Library is also running the Summer reading challenge.
The challenge is an initiative to get 4-18 year-olds reading over the school holidays. Over the course of the summer we ask participants to read ANY six books from the library. They must visit at least three times and take out a minimum of two books each time. (But of course they are able to take out as many as they wish, but only two will count towards the challenge with each visit). Throughout the challenge they will receive rewards, and when they complete it they will awarded a medal! The challenge is free and you can sign up as of the 14th July. The theme this year is Mischief Makers, but the children are allowed to take out any book they wish for the challenge.
Bears Reading Adventure
For under 4 year olds they have the Bears Reading Adventure – a scheme where small children get a free book and can collect stamps and stickers every time they visit the library and take out books.
