Stagecoach West will be launching a new Swindon to Cirencester service from November. This will be the 51A, to supplement the current 51, providing a half hourly service to Cirencester and serving the new housing estates that have been built up around the town. The 51 Service travels on from Cirencester to Cheltenham.
Wilts and Dorset buses will be changing their fares from 4th October. Singles go up 10p, returns are up 20p and there will be further changes to weekly and monthly tickets.
Carfax House, the health centre at the rear of the bus station, will be knocked down with the Whale Bridge development sometime next year but a replacement health centre will be built on the Queen’s Town car park, next to Fleming Way.
The school bus to St John’s Marlborough is still contracted to Stagecoach West, Service 80, leaving the Landmark Hotel at 07.36, returning from St John’s School at 15.27. An additional bus from Ridgeway School to Chiseldon and Bishopstone is a Thamesdown 157, running Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, leaving Ridgeway School at 16.45, calling at Home Close, Landmark and the Primary School bus stops.
The Stratton Green railway bridge will now close from 9th November 2015 and reopen on 29th February 2016.
Stagecoach will be running a Christmas shopping promotion for service number 8 as the bus goes to the main shopping centre, the Designer Outlet centre and West Swindon. When Swindon has its late Thursday night shopping, you can return to Chiseldon on the Thamesdown Service 70A at 19.30 and 21.30.
First Great Western has changed to a new franchise which came in at the end of September. They now call themselves Great Western Railway and have a new dark green colour scheme. We have copies of the new Great Western Railwa, network map if anybody needs them.
