We have received the following report from Swindon Borough Council:
The Swindon Half Marathon as a race was a huge success with record numbers of runners taking part and thousands of pounds being raised for charity. A major part of that success was due to the fact the race was staged within the town and it is clear there is great potential for creating a landmark event for Swindon which will continue to attract runners from far and wide in the years to come.
The fact the race was being run over this route for the first time inevitably created problems for motorists and we would like to thank them for their patience throughout the event. We have already held some initial review meetings and we will be sitting down with the race organisers to talk through any issues their events management company experienced on the day. This will help to ensure that future events run as smoothly as possible.
