Ninety-one per cent of pupils in Swindon have been offered a place at their first-choice secondary school for this September.
This is an improvement on last year when 89 per cent of pupils received a place at their number one school choice.
Swindon Borough Council’s School Admissions team received 2,936 on-time applications this year, with 98 per cent of pupils offered one of their top three preferences.
Parents will receive an email today confirming where their child has been offered a place, providing they applied by last October’s national deadline. Parents will need to log back into their parent portal account to accept their offer.
Councillor Adorabelle Amaral-Shaikh, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, said: “Our School Admissions team have worked exceptionally hard to process the huge number of applications that were received this year, and have successfully allocated 91 per cent of pupils their first choice secondary school place for September.
“I’d like to wish all our Year 6 pupils who are making the transition to secondary school the very best of luck as they continue on their educational journey.”
If parents have any queries regarding secondary school places for this September, they should email the Council’s School Admissions team at schooladmissions@swindon.gov.uk or contact the school directly.
