We’ve received the following update from Swindon Borough Council:
A broad range of work is in progress at Junction 16 including the import of clay, utility diversions – including gas and telecommunications – and the earthworks and drainage at the inner south side of the roundabout and Hay Lane. The import of clay has continued at pace, with the total amount imported now 26,000 cubic metres or the equivalent of approximately 240 double decker buses full. The dry weather over the last couple of months has allowed good progress to be made in this area, and the majority of the required material is now in place. Check out our blog to find out more about the clay, what we are doing with it and why.
On the 22nd May there is likely to be an overnight closure of the Westbound Exit slip road. This is yet to be confirmed but we will ensure SBC’s Twitter page is updated, as well as the Junction 16 website.
In July, the contractor’s work on the southern half of the roundabout is likely to have more of an impact on traffic. We will keep you updated on whether this work will impact on motorists’ journeys.
