A free programme is being run by Swindon Borough Council to help children and young people be healthy and active.
The Healthy Families programme is a family weight management service designed to help parents and children lead healthier lifestyles.
The 10-week programme includes learning how to make healthy food choices, fun food workshops, and encouraging participants to enjoy being active in Swindon.
Delivered by an experienced and friendly team from the Council, the scheme is offered free to families with children aged five to 16 years old, with a high BMI and no restricting medical conditions. There are two age-specific programmes, one for juniors aged between five and 11, and one for seniors aged between 11 and 16 years old.
The Juniors programme begins on Monday 16 September followed by the Seniors on Tuesday 17 September, with both being held at the Oasis Leisure Centre.
Councillor Brian Ford, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Adults and Health, said: “I’m really pleased that this programme is available to help families in Swindon.
“We’re committed to encouraging people to lead healthy lifestyles and look after their wellbeing, and this useful programme is one of many ways in which we are helping residents to do this.”
