Black Duck Folk gigs are normally held in Sutton Benger, but one is coming up at Swindon’s STEAM railway museum.
Here are the details forwarded to us:
Faustus were with us on 8th April and it was an absolutely amazing show! There is a video of their closing song, the Oxeye Man, on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/blackduckfolk/. It was a sell-out, with a really appreciative audience and proceeds from the bar raised £205 for the Teenage Cancer Trust. So, a real success.
Next up are Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin, Friday 19th May at STEAM – the museum of the Great Western Railway, Swindon. Having recently performed at the Royal Albert Hall with Show of Hands (Steve Knightley and Phil Beer) they are on a tour called ‘Out of the Ordinary’ which is taking them to a number of unusual venues (including caves and a round house). Tickets are £14 in advance, £16 on the door and include a free day ticket to the Museum valid for 12 months, excepting special events, which is worth £8.90. Doors open at 19:30 and the show starts at 20:00.
Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin, BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winners of Best Duo 2014 and nominated again 2016, now have three albums under their belts and have been described as “This duo has a combination of virtuosity, intensity and charisma that merits a slot on much bigger stages” John L. Walters, The Guardian
“Rich and complex – there is something of June Tabor about Hannah’s vocal performance – a voice that is strong and flexible and which, coupled with Phillip’s instrumental virtuosity, suggests we’re hearing stars of the future” Dai Jeffries, R2 ****
We’ve heard them several times and love their music which is why it is such a privilege to host them. Here is a taster https://soundcloud.com/phil-henry-hannah-martin/watershed
We hope to see you soon.
