HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has today (20 August) issued a press notice to remind parents that Child Benefit stops on 31 August if their child leaves education or training. Child Benefit continues if a child stays in approved education or training, but parents are required to inform HMRC either online on GOV.UK or via the HMRC app.

Parents who can’t extend their Child Benefit online or in the HMRC app can still do so by post or by phone.

Parents are encouraged to extend their claim as soon as possible to avoid the 31 August cut-off date.
