This summer Swindon Borough Council is working with a range of partners to host a number of exciting events and activities in the town centre.

Young families will have the opportunity to get involved in the Space Chase Summer Reading Challenge, free stay and play sessions, cycling and balance bikes, boxing and Explore Learning sessions.

There will also be the chance for families to chat with members of the Council’s Live Well team about leading a healthier lifestyle.

Throughout the summer all Swindon Libraries will be taking part in the Space Chase Summer Reading Challenge. Children who take part in the challenge can register to receive stickers and freebies. After three visits to the library they will receive a certificate and a medal.

On Monday mornings, Central Library will be hosting free story and craft sessions for children and families to get involved in.

From Tuesday 30 July, Explore Learning will provide free weekly learning workshops for children at Central Library. The sessions will be fun and engaging, covering a range of different subjects suitable for children of all ages.

From Friday 2 August, families will be able to attend stay and play sessions in the Brunel Shopping Centre, opposite Sainsbury’s. These sessions are designed to help children develop their confidence and social skills through play.

Councillor Brian Ford, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Adults and Health, said: “We are excited to be able to offer Swindon’s young families lots of fun and engaging activities to get involved with this summer.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for families to connect with one another and ask our Live Well team any questions they may have.

“Our Easter town centre activities received a great response from our residents and we are confident that our summer activities will emulate this success.”
