Points Of Interest From the Meeting held in February 2018
Neighbourhood Watch
The next Neighbourhood Meeting is Monday 26th March 2018 at 7.30pm at the Recreation Hall off Norris Close. Everyone is welcome.
Dates for 2018 will be on the Parish Council website and also on the noticeboards at New Road by the Spar, at Hodson, Draycott Foliat, Ridgeway View and at Badbury.
We took on the Beast from the East and won!
Residents from the Parish joined together and helped each other during the recent snowy spell. There were many examples of community spirit which extended to standard motorists who were given a warm welcome at the Friday Coffee morning in the Calley Hall. The police ferried standard motorists to the hall for a warm up.
Please let the Clerk know if you spot a grit bin that is low on grit so we can ask for it to be replaced by Swindon Borough Council.
Great British Spring Clean weekend 10th March
What another great event, thank you to everyone who turned out. We had about 25 residents and Councillors spread across the Parish collecting litter and spotting other larger items for removal. We also had some people who couldn’t make the event but did their own litter pick during the week.
Our contractors Allbuild removed the waste free of charge; they had a large flat-bed lorry load at the end of the morning. Our thanks to them also.
Thank you to all the pubs and the hairdressers who provided free tea and coffee for the volunteers and also thanks to the Chiseldon House Hotel who let us use their grounds as a meeting point and also provided tea and coffee at the end.
2018/19 Chiseldon Parish Precept
By now all residents should have hopefully received a letter explaining the details of the forthcoming year’s precept figures set by the Parish Council. Please contact the Clerk on the details above if you didn’t receive a letter, or have a look on our website above where the letter is also published.
A reminder that all meetings are open to the public, and there is a recess st the start of each meeting where the public can address the Chair of the committee with any questions they may have. We welcome all visitors to our meeting.
Chiseldon Netball Club update from the Organisers
Following a fantastic response to the idea of a netball club opening in Chiseldon, the great news is that we are currently looking for a coach and actively applying for funds to get ourselves up and running!
We would love to hear from more juniors (age 10+) as we haven’t yet had enough interest to cover that age group. Please get in touch if you may be interested in a weekly session or a few days on a summer camp over the holiday period.
Contact details are either email chiseldonnetball@gmail.com or telephone Fiona on 01793 741680.
Thanks for your support!
Recreation Hall on Norris Close
The Hall is available to hire on an hourly/morning/afternoon/evening basis. Please contact the Clerk on the details above to make an enquiry about prices, or availability. We can also arrange pitch hire for Football or Softball games – please ask us for details.
The hall has undergone a tidy up and now has new carpet and cleaned/painted walls. It makes an excellent space for a gathering/party/occasion.

The trustees of this fund are also able to approve grants and donations to worthy causes within the Parish. (This doesn’t have to be connected to users of the Memorial Hall). Please contact the Parish Clerk in the first instance who can provide you with an application form.
Works required within the Parish
We continue to report on any issues that need attention in the Parish, either to SBC if it is their responsibility or to our contractor to deal with.
A full list of responsibilities in being compiled and will be on the Parish Council’s website and linked to the Parish Facebook page so people can understand who is responsible for what items with the Parish.
Home Library Service
There is a Home Library service for Chiseldon Parish. It is run by volunteers and covers all areas of the Parish and can deliver books based on your preferences. Call Anish Harrison on 01793 for more details.
