The bramble patches, south of Chiseldon
A team of eleven turned out on a frankly unpromising day on Saturday, and created scallops in some of the bramble patches south of Chiseldon.
There is lots of bramble in the area, and the idea was to select an area where the verge of the path was getting over run and beat back the bramble to give a decent verge. They also cleared areas on either side to allow them to regenerate with – hopefully – a grassland set of plants and flowers. This resulted in a lot of waste material, which they put in a dead hedge along the field boundary. We hope that a local Cubs group may be able to help flower regeneration by “flower bombing” using a set of locally-derived wildflower seeds.
