We’re passing on the following message from Dick Millard regarding the forthcoming Butterfly Walk:
We are repeating a visit to a nice patch of chalk grassland growing in a cutting at the side of the Path just north of Ogbourne St George. The diverse flora attracts butterflies and moths, and on a sunny day in summer there can be many species flying about. Or, indeed, crawling: in previous years we have seen some very colourful caterpillars.
On Sunday, 30th July a local naturalist will be with us to help identify what we see, and explain a little about how the butterflies depend on the plants. We’ll meet at 11:00 on the access road to Whitefield Farm. This is off the main Chiseldon to Marlborough Road (the A346) a little north of Ogbourne St George. Limited parking is available there: you can, of course, come on your bike if you’d prefer!
Hope to see you there.
