Wiltshire Neighbourhood Watch
A key player in the ‘One Team’ approach to reducing crime.
Wiltshire Neighbourhood Watch Association is organising a series of Open Forum’s to inform and raise awareness of the ‘One Team One Approach’ community policing model recently introduced by Wiltshire Police. The forum will also provide an opportunity to review how Neighbourhood Watch can bring together local communities and the Police to help solve and deter local crime and anti-social behaviour helping combat fear and feelings of powerlessness such incidents create.
Over the course of the last year Wiltshire Police has rolled out its new Community Policing Team (CPT) model across Wiltshire and Swindon. Three of the seven designated CPT’s are located in Swindon and are identified as Swindon North, Swindon West and Swindon South. The philosophy of the model – ‘One Team One Approach’ – now brings Police Officers and Police Community Support Officers from Neighbourhood Police and Response teams to work together under a ‘One Team’ approach. The intention of the CPT model is to encourage improved information-sharing, communication and intelligence gathering to enable crimes to be investigated effectively and efficiently from the moment they are reported.
The next Open Forum will take place this Saturday, 25th March, at New College, Queens Drive, Swindon commencing at 11am.
Swindon South’s Inspector Steve McGrath will talk about the practicalities of the Community Policing Team model. There will be opportunity for Q&A and general discussion.
All welcome…
Paul Sunners, Vice Chair Wiltshire Neighbourhood Watch Association
