Wroughton and Swindon Libraries – changes from April 2017
Following on from my article last month we are now in the last few visits of the mobile library. Any member of this service should have had a letter from Swindon Borough Council. If you have not, please contract Allyson Jordan on 01793 466035 or email ajordan@swindon.gov.uk.
Wroughton Library will be open its normal hours until Friday 31 March. Users of the mobile library do not need to change their library cards to use Wroughton Library. From the 1 April the operating hours of Wroughton Library will be severely curtailed, only open 15 hours a week, with no late evenings. Monday 13.00-17.00, Tuesday 11.00-15.00, Wednesday and Thursdays the library is closed, Fridays 13.00-17.00, Saturday 10.00-13.00.
From the 1-6 April, Wroughton Library will be closed for stocktaking and the changeover to being run by Wroughton Parish Council. It will reopen at 13.00 on Friday 7 April.
These hours, with a librarian will go forward until August 2017 and hopefully the hours will increase from then on. The library will stay in the same building with no current plan to move it into the Ellendune Centre. Wroughton Parish Council will run the library as a Community Trust, if their bid is accepted. The trust will be made up of five parish councillors and three other people. If anyone is interested in being a trustee, please contact the parish office on 814735 or email clerk@wroughton.gov.uk.
Anybody finding that this change to Wroughton is too much to take on board to get your books, please contact the Home Library Service which has spaces on the runs serving Chiseldon, the coordinator is Anish Harrison on 01793 465495 or email home.library@swindon.gov.uk.
