Saturday 12th June 10.00 to 12.00 litter pick
Thank you to all the volunteers and Cllrs who turned up for the litter pick. We had a good turn out and managed to remove a lot of rubbish. Our thanks as always to Allbuild Building and Landscaping who removed the waste free of charge.
Self Employed Handyperson wanted

Castle View Play area new flooring
Full Council on 14.6.21 gave the final go ahead for new flooring at the play area. We will be arranging the work as soon as possible. We also hope to have repairs to the slide made soon.
Village Planters
With a combination of council funded plants and home grown plants by volunteers, all the planters are now planted for summer. If you can help with watering one near you then please do pop along with a container of water to help keen them going in this hot weather.
Crime Stats
Cllr Sunners who is also the Neighbourhood Watch local contact provides full council with crime stats from the Wiltshire Police website.
In April in the Chiseldon area there were 7 crimes, comparing to 1738 in the whole of the Swindon area. Recent graffiti at the bus shelter and washpool has been removed by the Parish Council and we are working with residents and the local PCSO in relation to suspicious activity around the Strouds Hill/Washpool area
External Audit.
Our external audit details were signed off at the Full Council meeting on 14th June and the relevant documents will now be sent to the auditor. This is a mandatory requirement each year, along with an internal audit. The Parish Council chooses to have an additional internal audit to ensure everything is on track. The audit not only covers the councils accounts but also risk assessments and asset registers amongst other items.
Our Newsletter.
Although we have done smaller leaflets in the past, this past couple of weeks introduced our first ever glossy 4 page newsletter to all residents in the parish. Volunteers are delivering them so please be patient if you haven’t yet received your copy. Please contact the Clerk by the end of June if you haven’t received a copy and we will get one to you. A copy will be added to our FB page and to the website.
Ink for charity
The Parish Council are supporting Wiltshire Search and Rescue by being a drop off point for used ink cartridges that show the small chip on them. They can receive £1 per cartridge. You can drop off any suitable cartridges at the post box at the Chapel office on Butts Road.
Openreach Update
We have had confirmation that the scheme is definitely going ahead and is now in the planning stage. Openreach and Cllrs are very keen that the message gets to people who may not look at Facebook to remind them of the offer which can still be applied for. Once the scheme closes for applications, anyone wanting fibre to their home will have to pay a large installation charge. Applying for the voucher now means the installation cost is covered. Openreach are looking into adding Badbury as part of this scheme plus a few other small areas not already covered.
Defibrillators – a reminder
A reminder that the Parish has 4 defibrillators – one outside Cameo Hairdressers on High Street, one outside the Pavilion on the Recreation Field, one outside the Calley Memorial Hall on Draycott Road and one in the BT Box in Badbury. All units are accessed by calling 999 to gain the code for the box. You cannot use these defibrillators on someone who doesn’t need it as the machine will not work. It also provides audible instructions on how to use them.
There is also a defibrillator on the outside wall of the school in Ogbourne St George.
NOW OPEN FOR NEW SUBMISSIONS – Parish Council Grants and Donations fund & Calley Memorial Hall fund
The Parish Council have an annual fund that we can donate to worthy causes within the Parish. If you are a group, charity or society that believe you could benefit from this fund then please contact the Parish Clerk for further details.
The trustees of the Calley Memorial Hall fund are also able to approve grants and donations to worthy causes within the Parish. (This doesn’t have to be connected to users of the Memorial Hall). Please contact the Parish Clerk in the first instance who can provide you with an application form.
(It should be noted that this fund is not connected to the Parish Council)
Next Parish council meeting
The next Full Council meeting of the Parish Council will be Monday 12th July 7.30 location to be confirmed. This will start at 7.30pm. There is a public recess at the start of proceedings, after which residents can choose to leave the session. Covid restrictions state we must adhere to max. number of attendees to be safe, so regrettably we may need to turn away extra visitors if space does not allow. Please register your interest in attending a meeting with the Parish Clerk, or send in a written report to be read out on your behalf. Meeting locations may change so please verify the location before making a journey. Our committee meetings will now meet in the Rec Hall off of Norris Close.
